In September, the advisory board of the Benton Community Fund awarded more than $3,500 to six community organizations:
- Benton Bible Church for food pantry holiday dinners
- Benton Community Development Corporation for museum windows for Swindler's Ridge
- Benton First Responders for an automated external defibrillator
- Benton School District for supplies for Benton Area Community Providing Assistance with Care (BACPAC) serving pre-kindergarten students
- Southern Grant Road Crew for vehicle replacement
- SWCAP for the Lafayette County Food Pantry
In 2010, a group of committed volunteer advisory board members reached a fundraising goal of $50,000 in just 51 days to establish the Benton Community Fund. Charter donors to the Fund include the Benton State Bank, the City of Benton, the Benton Community Development Corporation, and several generous community members.
The Benton Community Fund was established to provide a permanent endowment for the support of the community. Using a portion of its earnings, the Fund annually awards grants to local organizations striving to improve and enhance life in Benton. The Fund is led by a volunteer advisory board which initiates fundraising activities and determines the annual grant awards.
Donations to the Benton Community Fund are welcome at any time of the year. All gifts are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Make an online donation or mail a check to the following:
