Scholarship Application Process

Listed below are all scholarships available to Bruce High School students, sorted by application type.

Most scholarship funds have specific eligibility requirements established by the donor, such as enrollment at a particular high school or specialization in a particular field of study. Also, most scholarship funds base selection on financial need, academic performance, extracurricular activities, volunteer/community service, or other talents.

The application deadline for most scholarships is March 1.

ONE application is all that’s needed to apply to multiple scholarships. The online application process will alert you of eligibility during the completion of the online app. For example, if you read the descriptions of scholarships and plan to apply to several you still only need to complete one online app. Based on information in your application, you will be presented with those scholarships for which you are eligible to apply. Simply select yes or no for each scholarship listed for you. We suggest you write down the names of the scholarships before you begin the online process.

Many scholarships have printable Word Documents as their application. Simply click on the scholarship name and it will take you to a document for you to download and complete. You must complete one for EACH scholarship with a printable application. Instructions for submission are included in the document.

Eligibility: Established to provide for post high school educational opportunities for young people attending Boscobel High School, Boscobel, Wisconsin. The applicants will be pursuing a major that leads to a career in health care and/or teaching at an accredited 4 year college/university. Preference will be given for financial need and students attending Luther College.

Alice and Charles Van Bogaert Memorial Scholarship

Available to students from: Belmont High School
Eligibility: Available through the Belmont Scholarship Fund. Established to recognize specific academic excellence and provide for post high school educational opportunities for seniors graduating who will attend an accredited college, university or technical school.

Alvah Lloyd & Lulu Lloyd Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: For financially needy students to pursue a higher education. Guidelines include: scholastic standing and ability, character, and financial need.

Alvin & Rosa Buholzer Scholarship

Eligibility: For students planning to attend Blackhawk Technical College only. Students should be in the top 33 percent of their class ranking. Preference may be given for financial need, but it is not a restriction.

Eligibility: Established to support scholarships for Milton High School students planning to enroll in any post-secondary program who has been involved in some community activities. Preference given to any male or female outstanding athlete.

Amy Elizabeth Houseman Memorial Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: For students who plan to attend Blackhawk Technical College. Preference given to a student seeking a marketing profession.

Anita Fanta Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: For students attending an accredited college, university or technical school. Student should be in the top 25 percent of class ranking. Preference may be given for past participation in the Janesville School District’s Gifted & Talented Program and/or community service/volunteer participation, but neither are a restriction.

Baker Tilly Math Department Finalist Scholarship

Available to students from: Wisconsin Dells High School
Eligibility: For students pursuing an education at an accredited college, university or technical school. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Must show that they are an active participant in the Math Department. Presented by the Wisconsin Dells Education Foundation.

Bank of Wisconsin Dells Scholarship

Available to students from: Wisconsin Dells High School
Eligibility: For the top-ranked academic senior of each graduating class of Wisconsin Dells High School who has a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Presented by the Wisconsin Dells Education Foundation.

Belmont Schools Endowment Fund Scholarship

Available to students from: Belmont High School
Eligibility: Available through the Belmont Scholarship Fund.

Benton High School J. Bruce & Margaret Bradley Scholarship

Available to students from: Benton High School
Eligibility: For students pursuing a post-secondary education at an accredited technical school.

Betty Moore-Weyland Scholarship

Available to students from: Badger High School
Eligibility: For students who are enrolled or will be enrolling in a course of study leading to a career in nursing. Student should be in the top 50% of class ranking. Preference may be given for financial need, but it is not a restriction.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters Green County Scholarship

Available to students from: Albany High School, Brodhead High School, Juda High School, Monroe High School, Monticello High School, New Glarus High School
Eligibility: For students who have either been recipients of BB/BS service, or who have provided service to the organization. Selection will be based upon number of years involved, impact Big Brothers/Big Sisters has had on applicant. Student should be goal-oriented, demonstrate interest in community and school activities, and have financial need.

Billy Anderson Memorial Performing Musician Scholarship

Available to students from: Wisconsin Dells High School
Eligibility: For students pursuing an education at an accredited college, university or technical school. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Must be an active participant of the WD music program (band, jazz and/or choir) all four years of high school. Must provide evidence of stewardship in the Wisconsin Dells area community through their music. (ex: list of performances validated by the instructor). Preference will be given for involvement in school performances in the greater Wisconsin Dells area community. Emphasis will be placed on junior and senior year performance involvement. Presented by the Wisconsin Dells Education Foundation.

Carolyn R. Fisher Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Established for graduating seniors from Parker High School who are pursuing a teaching career in Mathematics or English at an accredited college, university or technical school. Student should have a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Must include essay about their desire to become a teacher in the field of Mathematics or English, how they will inspire future students and how they can incorporate humor into the classroom experience.

Cecelia Howe Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: Established for graduating seniors from Craig High School intending to pursue a career in education.

Charles & William Young Endowed Scholarship

Available to students from: Iowa-Grant High School, Platteville High School
Eligibility: Established to assist graduating seniors from Platteville or Iowa-Grant High School who will be pursuing study in the field of nursing at an accredited college, university or technical school. The student must be ranked in the top 1/3 of his/her graduating class. Preference may be given for financial need, but is not a restriction. Scholarship may be renewable for 1 year.

Christianson Family Scholarship

Available to students from: Iowa-Grant High School
Eligibility: For students pursuing an education at an accredited college/technical school. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Preference may be given for involvement in the community. Preference may be given for financial need.

Eligibility: For students who will be attending an accredited college, university, or technical school. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and provide a written statement of past accomplishments and plans for the future.

Claude Blain Family Scholarship

Eligibility: Eligibility guidelines include a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, character traits which demonstrate a drive to learn and continue one’s education, and recommendation from teachers, coach, and/or school administrator. Preference will be given for financial need.

Clayton Watkins Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility: For students pursuing a post-secondary education at an accredited college, university or technical school.

Secondary considerations may be given to those interested in other fine, graphic, domestic, or cultural arts. Preference may be given to students with financial need.

Available to students from: Argyle High School, Barneveld High School, Belmont High School, Benton High School, Black Hawk High School, Boscobel High School, Cuba City High School, Darlington High School, Fennimore High School, Iowa-Grant High School, Ithaca High School, Lancaster High School, North Crawford High School, Platteville High School, Potosi High School, Prairie du Chien High School, Richland Center High School, Shullsburg High School, Southwestern High School, Weston High School
Eligibility: Established to assist students from Southwest Wisconsin (graduates of a Grant, Iowa, Lafayette, Crawford or Richland county high school) who intend to pursue a degree in the field of agriculture, life science, biology and/or chemistry. The applicant must have achieved a high school cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Preference may be given to students who also demonstrated involvement in community and school activities. Preference may be given to students with financial need.

Eligibility: For students who will be attending a four-year college or equivalent school of higher learning. Candidates should be active in Scouting, have scholastic aptitude, good citizenship, and leadership skills. Preference may be given to students with financial need.

Dr. Sam and Hannah Sorkin Scholarship

Available to students from: Evansville High School
Eligibility: For students who plan to pursue a career in the field of medicine, education, or law. Applicant must demonstrate an active participation in school and community activities and submit a well-written essay on his/her responsibility to community and his/her career goals.

Eligibility: For students studying nursing or other medical or health-related degrees. Preference will be given to students with a GPA 3.0 or above.

Edward Don Company Business Department Finalist Scholarship

Eligibility: For students pursuing an education at an accredited college, university or technical school. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Must show that they are an active participant in the Business Department. Presented by the Wisconsin Dells Education Foundation.

Available to students from: Belmont High School
Eligibility: Established for graduating seniors from Belmont High School who will be attending an accredited 4 year college/university. Student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Elks Club Scholarship in Memory of Leon Glowacki

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Established for graduating seniors of Janesville high schools. Financial need, scholastic achievement, and good citizenship are determining factors. All things being equal for applicants, preference may be given to a child of an Elks Club member.

Evansville Memorial Alumni Scholarship

Available to students from: Evansville High School
Eligibility: Student must rank in the upper two-third of his/her graduating class. Selection will be based on character, good citizenship, and financial need. Priority will be given to sons, daughters, grandsons, and granddaughters of an Evansville High School graduate.

Everett & Esther McReynolds Scholarship

Available to students from: Platteville High School
Eligibility: Available through the Platteville High School Scholarship Fund.

Family Entertainment Group Creative Arts Department Finalist Scholarship

Available to students from: Wisconsin Dells High School
Eligibility: For students pursuing an education at an accredited college, university or technical school. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Must show that they are an active participant in the Art Department. Presented by the Wisconsin Dells Education Foundation.

Gissal Family Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility: For students pursuing a career in a medical or health related field at an accredited college, university or technical school. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Presented by the Wisconsin Dells Education Foundation.

Glen Allbaugh Memorial Band Award

Available to students from: Platteville High School
Eligibility: For students who have been an active member of the school band and have made a significant contribution to the program. Preference will be given to a student looking to pursue a career in music or music education and who has demonstrated good character, citizenship, and is hard working and dependable.

Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church Scholarship

Available to students from: Albany High School, Brodhead High School, Juda High School, Monroe High School, Monticello High School, New Glarus High School
Eligibility: Scholarship awarded to individual(s) who plan to attend a Lutheran college, university or seminary. This scholarship is based on financial need and academic performance. Preference may be given to a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church located in Monroe, Wisconsin.

Graham Family Scholarship

Available to students from: Barneveld High School, Fennimore High School
Eligibility: For students who plan to pursue a career in nursing. May be used for a technical school.

Hans & Patty Helland Memorial Scholarship

Available to students from: Wisconsin Dells High School
Eligibility: For students pursuing a Liberal Arts degree with preference given, but not limited to English majors at an accredited college, university or technical school. Must submit essay or poem. Presented by the Wisconsin Dells Education Foundation.

Harlan D. Feldt Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility: For students pursuing a career in a science related field at an accredited college, university or technical school. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Eligibility: For students from Janesville, Wis. interested in pursuing a career in the building trades. May be used for technical schools. Preference may be given to students who have an interest in masonry and who demonstrate a financial need. May be renewable for up to three years.

Hubert & Joyce Mester Family Endowed Scholarship in Memory of Wayne Mester

Available to students from: Belmont High School
Eligibility: Available through the Belmont Scholarship Fund. This fund is to provide for post high school educational opportunities for graduating seniors of Belmont High School. At least one scholarship shall be awarded annually to a graduating senior from Belmont High School who will be attending an accredited college, university or technical school. Eligibility guidelines include formal application for the scholarship through the HS guidance department; a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; preference will be given for a student pursuing post-secondary education in agriculture. Additionally, the student shall have been involved in school activities (clubs, organizations, sports and/or music/art).
