On Wednesday, February 13, the Lancaster Community Fund advisory board presented a grant of $50,000 to the City of Lancaster and Chamber of Commerce for economic development initiatives associated with the reconstruction of Highway 61. In making the award, the board noted the importance of the many businesses that will be impacted by the project and the need for all to support those businesses during construction.

Board chair Joe Krantz said, “These monies are to assist the Chamber and City in communicating the “access pathways” to the businesses that will feel the impact of this construction. Additionally, the Chamber is developing a number of initiatives, including some special events, to encourage people to continue to shop along the reconstruction route. Our board is very supportive of the program, developed by the Chamber and City, to assist business owners that need to improve their alternate entrances so that customers can continue to have access.”
