About The Fund
Our Mission
The Janesville Multicultural Teacher Scholarship (JMTS) was established as a renewable scholarship program for multicultural students intending to pursue a career a degree in an education-related field and seek teacher or educator certification. JMTS does request that each scholarship recipient apply to the School District of Janesville for a position with the intention of completing at least three successful years of employment.
How does the Janesville Multicultural Teacher Scholarship work?
JMTS is a component of the Community Foundation. The Advisory Board is comprised of community volunteers that work alongside the Foundation staff. The Advisory Board raises money for the scholarship program as well as assist in the review and selection of the Janesville Multicultural Teacher Scholars.
Eligibility for High School Students:
Applicant must be a graduating high school student; Applicants must be identified as, African American, Latino, Asian, or Native American on school enrollment/registration forms; Applicants must be pursuing a career in the education field; and, Applicants must be willing to sign an agreement stating that upon receiving Educator Certification, they agree to apply for employment with the School District of Janesville. If offered a position, applicants must be willing to complete three years of successful employment with the School District of Janesville. To remain in the program, the student must hold a minimum 2.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
