Scholarship Application Process

Listed below are all scholarships available to Janesville Craig High School students, sorted by application type.

Most scholarship funds have specific eligibility requirements established by the donor, such as enrollment at a particular high school or specialization in a particular field of study. Also, most scholarship funds base selection on financial need, academic performance, extracurricular activities, volunteer/community service, or other talents.

The application deadline for most scholarships is March 1.

ONE application is all that’s needed to apply to multiple scholarships. The online application process will alert you of eligibility during the completion of the online app. For example, if you read the descriptions of scholarships and plan to apply to several you still only need to complete one online app. Based on information in your application, you will be presented with those scholarships for which you are eligible to apply. Simply select yes or no for each scholarship listed for you. We suggest you write down the names of the scholarships before you begin the online process.

Many scholarships have printable Word Documents as their application. Simply click on the scholarship name and it will take you to a document for you to download and complete. You must complete one for EACH scholarship with a printable application. Instructions for submission are included in the document.
Several scholarships applications are available only through your school’s guidance counselor. If you find a scholarship listed under in-school apps, please see your guidance counselor office for an application.

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: For financially needy students to pursue a higher education. Guidelines include: scholastic standing and ability, character, and financial need.

Amy Elizabeth Houseman Memorial Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: For students who plan to attend Blackhawk Technical College. Preference given to a student seeking a marketing profession.

Cecelia Howe Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: Established for graduating seniors from Craig High School intending to pursue a career in education.

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Janesville Chapter Scholarship

Available to students from: Edgerton High School, Evansville High School, Janesville Charter Schools, Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School, Milton High School
Eligibility: Student should demonstrate academic excellence and commitment to the field of study. Preference may also be given for financial need.

Edna Anderson Alumni Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: For a Roosevelt Elementary School alumnus. Selection will be based on need, character, scholarship and good citizenship. Student must have at least a 2.0 GPA.

Elks Club Scholarship in Memory of Leon Glowacki

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Established for graduating seniors of Janesville high schools. Financial need, scholastic achievement, and good citizenship are determining factors. All things being equal for applicants, preference may be given to a child of an Elks Club member.

George & Harriet Christopherson Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Charter Schools, Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: For students who will be attending a technical school. Student must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.

George K. Steil, Sr., Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: Student should be in the top 25 percent of class ranking. Preference will be given for financial need and the intent to study law.

Geraldine Hedberg Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: For students who are planning to attend an accredited college, university, or technical school. Criteria includes financial need and class ranking. Preference may be given to financially needy students who show untapped potential.

Henry L. & Ruth O. Elmer Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School, Milton High School
Eligibility: For students intending to pursue a career in the field of nursing at an accredited college, university or technical school. Preference may be given for financial need, but is not a restriction.

Howard Peterson Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: For students from Janesville, Wis. interested in pursuing a career in the building trades. May be used for technical schools. Preference may be given to students who have an interest in masonry and who demonstrate a financial need. May be renewable for up to three years.

Irene Hoyt Education Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: Established to assist Craig High School graduates who intend to become elementary teachers. Preference may be given for community service, especially as it relates to a student’s involvement with young children, financial need, and academic performance.

James F. Adams Construction Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: For students who demonstrate enthusiasm and interest in one or more areas of building trades.

Janesville High School Class of ‘57 Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Charter Schools, Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Established to commemorate the 50th Class Reunion of the Janesville High School Class of 1957. At least one scholarship shall be awarded annually to a graduating senior from any Janesville High School and qualified Charter School who will be attending an accredited college, university or technical school.

Janesville Multicultural Teachers Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Charter Schools, Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: The JMTOS program offers an incentive for Janesville students of color to return to the community as professional teachers and role models for all students.

Janesville Women’s Club Association Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Charter Schools, Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: For graduates to attain post-high school education. Preference may be given for academic excellence and/or financial need.

JAREA-Kathryn Mary Swingle Memorial Scholarship

Available to students from: Edgerton High School, Evansville High School, Janesville Charter Schools, Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School, Milton High School
Eligibility: For students pursuing a career in the education field.

Jeremiah Campbell Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: Student must have a 2.5 GPA and a written essay with responses to the following questions: “When you get your senior yearbook, you see the description ‘Most Kind Hearted,’ how do you think you obtained that dedication?” and “What are your life goals? What would you do if something happened that you found out you were unable to reach them?” Preference will be given to students who demonstrate enthusiasm for and have actively participated in martial arts training.

John & Jo Draeger Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Established to assist a Janesville high school student interested in studying mechanical or electrical engineering. Student must have a 3.5 GPA. Preference will be given to a student planning to attend the University of Wisconsin or another Wisconsin institution. If a student cannot be identified with an interest in mechanical or electrical engineering, a related engineering field may be considered. A written statement, “Reasons for wanting to pursue engineering” should be included with application.

John S. Scott Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Established to assist minority students receive a higher education. Guidelines include racial minority origin, a 2.5 GPA, good character and participation in extra-curricular activities. Preference may be given to students with demonstrated financial need.

Joseph N. Melan College Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Student must excel in school and would not have sufficient resources to pursue post-high school education.

Karl Southworth Memorial Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: Established to provide for post-high school educational opportunities for young people from Janesville, Wis. Guidelines include: Top 30 percent class ranking, self-motivating, and have demonstrated an involvement in a variety of school and/or community activities. Preference for financial need may be considered.

Karl A. and Bernice E. Samek Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Established to provide scholarships for worthy graduating seniors of Janesville public high schools to further their education at a college or technical school.

Katherine M. Belling Memorial Art Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Established for a graduating senior who intends to pursue an art degree from an accredited college, university or technical college.

Kenneth F. & Grace E. Bick Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: Established to provide scholarships to Janesville public school students planning to attend a college, junior college, trade, or religious training school.

Knipp-Poulter Fund

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: Student must demonstrate leadership qualities and have participated in high school athletics.

Lavern Anderson Memorial Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Charter Schools, Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: For students who attended Lincoln Elementary School who intend to study agriculture, education, or health care. Student must be in the top 50 percent of class ranking.

Mae Theisen Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: For students who are in the top 20 percent of their class and intend to pursue an education degree. Student also must have financial need.

Mae Theisen Scholarship at UW-Rock County

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: For Janesville residents attending the University of Wisconsin-Rock County. Student must have financial need and intend to pursue an education degree. May be renewed after the first year if student demonstrates good academic progress.

Norman W. and Janice Graper Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Established to provide for post-high school educational opportunities for young people graduating from a Janesville public high school who will be attending an accredited college or university. Student should be in the top 25 percent of their class ranking and must be intending to pursue a career in elementary education.

Philip McQuade Memorial Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: Established to assist graduates of Janesville Craig High School pursue higher education in the field of engineering. Must be in top 20 percent of class rank and have church involvement.

Richard F. Schwarer Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Established to assist graduating seniors receive a post-high school education. Must have financial need.

Robert C. Lovejoy Memorial Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Established for graduates of Janesville high schools who demonstrate leadership, service to others, and involvement in their school and the larger community.

Rock County Agricultural Scholarship

Available to students from: Beloit Memorial High School, Beloit Turner High School, Clinton High School, Edgerton High School, Evansville High School, Janesville Charter Schools, Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School, Milton High School, Parkview High School
Eligibility: This scholarship was established to assist young people graduating from Rock County high schools who have been active in agricultural programs and projects.

Ronald J. Jelinek Memorial Fund for Welding Education

Available to students from: Beloit Memorial High School, Beloit Turner High School, Clinton High School, Edgerton High School, Evansville High School, Janesville Charter Schools, Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School, Milton High School, Parkview High School
Eligibility: For students or adults wanting to learn or improve welding skills. Application is open to anyone living in Rock County. Scholarships will be given for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and/or equipment required for courses at the educational institution.

Rubie McWilliam Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Charter Schools, Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School, Milton High School
Eligibility: Student should be between the 10-20 percent of class ranking range and must demonstrate good citizenship, school involvement, and a willingness to broaden academic horizons. Preference may be given for financial need

Sylvia B. Feingold Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Student must be pursuing a major/minor in foreign language.

Theodore W. Batterman Family Foundation Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Student must have a 3.5 GPA or better, be among the top 20 students in the graduating class, have engaged in community service of a significant nature, be a person of good character as shown through letters of recommendation (only one may be from a teacher or school administrator), have demonstrated financial need, and provide a written statement of their goals. Scholarship is renewable up to four years.

Theresa A. Purintun Memorial Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: For students pursuing a career in the education field. Must have a 3.0 GPA.

Timmy Mork Cullen Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School
Eligibility: Established for students attending an accredited college, university, or technical college who intend to study the field of engineering. Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate community service activities or who have held a job while attending high school, but this is not a restriction.

Wilson Rawls Scholarship

Available to students from: Edgerton High School, Evansville High School, Hillcrest High School, Idaho Falls High School, Janesville Charter Schools, Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School, Skyline High School
Eligibility: For literary-minded students attending a four-year college or university. Provide three letters of recommendation, one each from a teacher, guidance counselor, and employer or community leader. Submit a written essay of 200-400 words in length describing future education, personal life, community service, and career goals.

Youth Baseball of Janesville Scholarship

Available to students from: Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School
Eligibility: Established to provide post-high school educational opportunities for young people from Janesville, Wis. Student should have at least a 2.5 GPA, recommendation from teachers, coach and/or school administrator is welcome, must demonstrate active interest in community and school activities, and preference will be given to students who have been active in Youth Baseball of Janesville.
