Scholarship Application Process
Listed below are all scholarships available to Monticello High School students, sorted by application type.
Most scholarship funds have specific eligibility requirements established by the donor, such as enrollment at a particular high school or specialization in a particular field of study. Also, most scholarship funds base selection on financial need, academic performance, extracurricular activities, volunteer/community service, or other talents.

ONE application is all that’s needed to apply to multiple scholarships. The online application process will alert you of eligibility during the completion of the online app. For example, if you read the descriptions of scholarships and plan to apply to several you still only need to complete one online app. Based on information in your application, you will be presented with those scholarships for which you are eligible to apply. Simply select yes or no for each scholarship listed for you. We suggest you write down the names of the scholarships before you begin the online process.

Many scholarships have printable Word Documents as their application. Simply click on the scholarship name and it will take you to a document for you to download and complete. You must complete one for EACH scholarship with a printable application. Instructions for submission are included in the document.
In-School
Several scholarships applications are available only through your school’s guidance counselor. If you find a scholarship listed under in-school apps, please see your guidance counselor office for an application.

Alvin X & Rosa Buholzer Scholarship – Blackhawk Technical College
Available to students from: Albany High School, Brodhead High School, Juda High School, Monroe High School, Monticello High School, New Glarus High School
Eligibility: For students planning to attend Blackhawk Technical College only. This scholarship was established by a bequest from Alvin X. and Rosa Buholzer to assist and encourage worthy and industrious students who will be attending Blackhawk Technical College. ELIGIBILITY: Applicants should be in the top 33% of class ranking.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters Green County Scholarship
Available to students from: Albany High School, Brodhead High School, Juda High School, Monroe High School, Monticello High School, New Glarus High School
Eligibility: For students who have either been recipients of BB/BS service, or who have provided service to the organization. Selection will be based upon number of years involved, impact Big Brothers/Big Sisters has had on applicant. Student should be goal-oriented, demonstrate interest in community and school activities, and have financial need.
Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church Scholarship
Available to students from: Albany High School, Brodhead High School, Juda High School, Monroe High School, Monticello High School, New Glarus High School
Eligibility: Scholarship awarded to individual(s) who plan to attend a Lutheran college, university or seminary. This scholarship is based on financial need and academic performance. Preference may be given to a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church located in Monroe, Wisconsin.
John & Becky Wegmueller “Abenteuer” Scholarship
Available to students from: Albany High School, Brodhead High School, Juda High School, Monroe High School, Monticello High School, New Glarus High School
Eligibility: For students pursuing a post-secondary education at an accredited college, university or technical school. Should be in the top 10% of class ranking or have a GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Preference may be given for involvement in sports, school activities, church and community. Preference may be given for financial need.
John Ponyicsanyi Memorial Scholarship
Available to students from: Monticello High School
Eligibility: For students pursuing a career in education. Preference may be given to those who are planning to teach business education or are planning a career in a related business field. In addition, students pursuing a career in teaching, other than business education subjects, may also be considered. Student must have a 2.5 GPA and have demonstrated community and/or school activity.
Mary Kay Zemlicka Memorial Scholarship
Available to students from: Monroe High School, Monticello High School
Eligibility: Established to provide for post high school educational opportunities for graduating seniors from Monroe High School and Monticello High School who will be attending an accredited college, university or technical school.
There are 2 scholarships available – 1 for a student who intends to study nursing and 1 for a student who intends to study education/teaching. May be renewable up to 3 additional years for 4-year college/university or up to 1 additional year for 2-year college or technical school.
ELIGIBILITY:
• Student will be attending an accredited college, university or technical school
• Must have GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Must be intending to study either nursing or education/teaching
• Preference for financial need but is not a restriction
Robert & Helen Stauffer Scholarship Fund
Available to students from: Monticello High School
Eligibility: For students who will be attending an accredited college, university, or technical school. Student should have a minimum 2.0 GPA and preference may be given for financial need.

Schenk Family Music Scholarship
Available to students from: Monticello High School
Eligibility: For students who participate in and show enthusiasm for the high school music program as demonstrated by participation, either instrumental or vocal, for not less than three years. Preference may be given to a candidate intending to continue the study of music and to a candidate with financial need.
The Green Haven Family Advocates, Geraldine “Gerri” Newman Memorial Scholarship
Available to students from: Albany High School, Brodhead High School, Juda High School, Monroe High School, Monticello High School, New Glarus High School
Eligibility: The applicants for this scholarship must be of good character and high moral standards. Preference may be given to applicants who demonstrate a commitment to volunteerism through participation in school and/or community activities, plan a career path with direct connection to human services (examples: social work, medical, teaching, law enforcement, etc.) Additional preference will be given to an individual who has shown an ability to overcome hardship in their personal life. Applicants will also be judged on citizenship, leadership, academics, financial need, and life experiences.
Thomas H. Brusveen Scholarship
Available to students from: Monticello High School
Eligibility: For students who will be attending an accredited college or university and who will be studying music.
