Get to Know the Evansville Fund Advisory Board

The Evansville Fund wants to introduce you to its current Advisory Board Members with a new feature, “Get to Know Us…” Advisory Board Members of our Community Funds and EIE Funds are community volunteers who give their time to the Fund in support of their local communities. Members help raise funds and review grant applications for programs and projects that benefit all of Evansville. We are grateful for their help!

Meet Sue Wilbur

What made you decide to live in Evansville and how many years have you lived here?
I’ve lived here since 1970. When I was 17 my family chose to move to Evansville because of the lovely park and being close to my dad’s new job. He was a prison guard at the Green Bay Reformatory and transferred to the Oregon Correctional Facility. My original home town was Kewaunee, WI on Lake Michigan.

What made you decide to serve as a board member for the Evansville Fund?
I knew the Evansville Fund did good things to support needed programs and enhance community life in Evansville, so when Jeanette Jones asked if I was interested on being on the board it was an easy yes.

What is your favorite part about being on the Evansville Fund Board and how many years have you been serving on the Board?
My favorite part of being on the Advisory Board is getting to know the other members and making decisions as a group. We also get a lot of assistance from the CFSW staff. People on the board each bring unique talents and abilities to share…and they have a solid commitment to serve the community. This is my 6th year on the board and the end of my term. You are only allowed 2 terms but are allowed back on after being off at least a year.

What three words would your friends use to describe you?
Caring, dependable, creative.

What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?
Since I’m retired, every day is the weekend! Walking my dog is a sure thing…sewing/ quilting or watering my many plants.

What is one of your favorite quotes?

The Packers

What is your favorite way to unwind after a busy day?
Probably take a 20 minute nap on the couch!
