Remington Viney Legacy Fund Awards First Grant

The Remington Viney Legacy Fund awarded its first grant recently to the Women in Aviation International (WAI) and the Four Lakes Chapter, allowing the non-profit organization to offer a scholarship to a student pursuing an aviation career.

This first scholarship of $5,000 from the WAI Four Lakes Chapter will be awarded to a female member, wife of a member, or daughter (age 16+) of a member of the 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard to assist with the costs of obtaining a private pilot license. The award will be paid directly to an accredited flight school in south-central Wisconsin. Upon receipt of the scholarship, the recipient must become a member of Women in Aviation International and the Four Lakes Chapter, if not already a member. The scholarship recipient will be expected to complete her private pilot training by August 31, 2023.

Interested individuals must complete the application posted on the Remington Viney Legacy Fund Facebook page or in the news section at www.cfsw.org, and submit it electronically via email to [email protected]. Applications are due on or before July 31, 2021.

The scholarship recipient will be announced during the Celebration of Life ceremony for Remington Viney hosted by the 115 Fighter Wing on August 21st, 2021 at Truax Field Air National Guard Base in Madison, Wisconsin.

The Remington Viney Legacy Fund, which is managed by the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, was established in honor of Remington Viney, a highly accomplished 26-year-old pilot, who along with Tanner Byholm, died in a plane crash south of Janesville, WI on February 16, 2021. The fund supports women interested in aviation along with educational and charitable service projects.
