Get to Know the Evansville Fund Advisory Board

The Evansville Fund wants to introduce you to its current Advisory Board Members with a new feature, “Get to Know Us…” Advisory Board Members of our Community Funds and EIE Funds are community volunteers who give their time to the Fund in support of their local communities. Members help raise funds and review grant applications for programs and projects that benefit all of Evansville. We are grateful for their help!

Meet JEFF FREDENDALL

What made you decide to live in Evansville and how many years have you lived here?
Evansville has always been home. My family moved here when I was three, so it’s where I spent my formative years, surrounded by family, friends and community. After high school I spent many years away from home (many in Omaha, Nebraska as a Flight Attendant for Midwest Airlines). When we began looking for a forever home, Evansville, called us home. We’ve been here now for five years.!

What made you decide to serve as a board member for the Evansville Fund?
When I decided to serve on the Evansville Board, it was a decision to become more involved in the community and a commitment to supporting those who call it home. I see benefit to combining the interests, backgrounds, and talents of our diverse group to support arts, education, human services, and historic preservation through our work. And, Nancy Nelson is very persuasive (wink).

What is your favorite part about being on the Evansville Fund Board and how many years have you been serving on the Board?
I have been an Evansville Fund Board member for a very short time.  I began my three year commitment this year, and have enjoyed jumping right in with the annual Chocolate Extravaganza, and as the Board Secretary.  I look forward to being involved in growing and supporting our community.

What three words would your friends use to describe you?
Friendly, Approachable, Caring/Empathetic.

What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?
Weekends typically find me wanting to be at home.  I work out of town, so the weekends about home – and most likely, in nice weather long walks, taking pictures, gardening and to really relax, getting lost in a great book.

What is one of your favorite quotes?
““I think fearless is having fears but jumping anyway” – Taylor Swift or “That’s the thing about books, they let you travel without moving your feet” – Jhumpa Lahiri

What’s your favorite sport to watch and which team do you root for?
I’m not a huge sports fan, but because of my Grandmother (Hazel) and now my Aunt Sharon and my parents, who love the Brewers, I’ll say I can enjoy a good baseball game.  I do have a Yelich T-shirt, so there’s that.

What is your favorite way to unwind after a busy day?
After a busy I unwind by seeing Lake Leota as I come into the house, three dogs wagging their tails, and then before bed, a good book.
