Scholarship Application Process

Listed below are all scholarships available to Hillsboro High School students, sorted by application type.

Most scholarship funds have specific eligibility requirements established by the donor, such as enrollment at a particular high school or specialization in a particular field of study. Also, most scholarship funds base selection on financial need, academic performance, extracurricular activities, volunteer/community service, or other talents.

Joseph “Chub” and Lucille “Lu” Bruha Scholarship

Available to students from: Hillsboro High School
Eligibility: For students who will be attending an accredited college, university or technical school. Should have minimum GPA of 2.5. Preference for financial need but is not a restriction.

Picha Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Available to students from: Hillsboro High School
Eligibility: Created in Memory of Emil and Donald Picha, established by Alan and Nancy Picha and honoring the memory of Alan’s father, Emil, who established the Picha Funeral Home in 1962 and the memory of Alan’s brother, Donald, who operated a funeral home and a furniture store in Elroy. Required components include a completed application form with essay, transcript, resume, reference page with minimum of three references, acceptance letter from post-secondary institution, two letters of recommendation and a special essay on how the Hillsboro community and school district have affected the student’s personal growth and future plans.

Wolfenden Scholarship

Available to students from: Hillsboro High School
Eligibility: Established for graduating seniors from Hillsboro High School who will be attending an accredited college, university, or technical school. Required components include a completed application form with essay, transcript, resume, reference page with minimum of three references, acceptance letter from post-secondary institution, two letters of recommendation and a special essay on how the Hillsboro community and school district have affected the student’s personal growth and future plans.
